I bought this for my dog with the intention of putting it outdoors on our sidewalk, so he could stay cool on hot days. Well, I ended up buying a Tempur-pedic bed that seems to radiate heat, which left the dog and I struggling to sleep at night. So my family joked that I should put the dog's cooling pad on top of my bed. I decided what the heck. We put the cooling pad on the bed and now we both sleep through the night. I was surprised that it worked on top of the soft surface, but it does stay really cool. The only downside is that it is heavy and awkward to move once it's filled and it sometimes becomes lumpy when moved. But eventually it works it way back to being flat. Thankfully this worked because the bed was a floor sample and can't be returned!
